Preparation For GED
There are many different ways in which one can prepare to take the GED test. GED test prep books are available in bookstores while many communities offer free GED test prep classes. Many local libraries have free GED test prep resources, as do most state employment agencies.
Local PBS television station broadcasts GED courses that you can take. Check out this link for times in your area http://www.pbs.org/literacy. The site also offers some online courses for basic skills required for the GED test. They are all free.
In addition to formal test preparation, students are also able and encouraged to prepare on their own in private. As with similar tests, many test preparation books are offered for the GED. These books offer practice tests, tips for passing the GED test, and guidelines to help students determine areas in which they need improvement. Many books also offer extensive information on the various subject areas covered by the test, similar to textbooks students use in traditional high school settings. Students can read books that cover all academic areas of the test, or just the area(s) in which they need more assistance. Some commercial tutoring centers also offer preparation specifically for the GED test.
Whether you want to prepare for the GED on your own or in a classroom situation, there are resources readily available to you; and in addition, there are countless online resources for GED prep, some of which are free. The American Council on Education maintains a website that offers information on the GED test, including sample questions for those wishing to see what the test will be like.
Looking at and studying sample GED test questions is an excellent wsay to prepare for the test, and doing so often allays one fears about the difficulty of the test.
